(English version below)

◼︎ Conference Theme

In an era when science has established that Undetectable = Untransmittable (U = U), the challenge of overcoming fear rooted in the last century remains unfinished work in HIV education. Persistent misconceptions and stigma discourage individuals from testing, seeking help, and coming out as people living with HIV, potentially delaying diagnosis and treatment.

Importantly, stigma does not affect everyone equally. Existing social inequalities become even more pronounced when access to education, healthcare, and support services is needed. Sexual minorities are often excluded from textbooks, yet labeled as “high-risk groups” in discussions of disease. Sex workers, under conditions of structural inadequacy, face heightened sexual health risks.

When stigma surrounding sexuality and disease intersects, Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) becomes a crucial pathway for fostering understanding, dismantling prejudice, and advancing human rights. Fear-based approaches are not effective sexual education. Identifying discrimination and delivering accurate knowledge are essential to promoting public health.

The 2026 International Conference on Comprehensive Sexuality Education, centered on Destigmatizing HIV Education, invites international researchers and practitioners to exchange insights. Together, we will explore how stigma is formed, how education can drive change, and how human rights advocates in diverse contexts develop locally grounded strategies. Through cross-national dialogue, we aim to deepen understanding of sexuality education and HIV education, and to advance practices grounded in human rights and gender equality.

◼︎ Presentation Format

  • Oral presentations at this conference are by invitation only, featuring international researchers and practitioners.
  • Poster presentations are open for submission. Researchers, practitioners, and students in related fields are warmly invited to participate. A designated poster session will be held during the conference. While no formal discussants will be assigned, presenters and participants are encouraged to engage in dialogue and exchange.

◼︎ Suggested Topics

  1. Practices and Prospects in HIV Education
This theme focuses on practical experiences and future developments in HIV education across different stages and settings, including curriculum design, teaching methods, material development, and policy advocacy. Submissions may explore how education responds to contemporary scientific advances (e.g., U=U, PrEP), challenges existing social biases, and fosters understanding and empathy across age groups and learning contexts. Critical reflections on current limitations and challenges, as well as innovative and forward-looking strategies, are also encouraged.
  2. Sexual Health Education for Marginalized and Vulnerable Populations
The impact of HIV intersects with social inequalities, placing certain groups at a disadvantage in accessing sexual health information and resources. This theme centers on populations such as sexual minorities, sex workers, adolescents, and people with disabilities. It examines their needs, lived experiences, and rights within sexual health education. Submissions may address culturally sensitive and inclusive educational approaches, and analyze how institutions, language, and social structures influence educational access and health outcomes. Contributions highlighting community-led actions and advocacy are especially welcome.
  3. Destigmatization in Everyday Contexts
Efforts to eliminate HIV-related stigma extend beyond classrooms. Healthcare systems, community organizations, media spaces, and digital platforms all present opportunities for intervention. This theme invites discussions on how education, advocacy, and action challenge stigma and discrimination across various settings. Contributions may share practical experiences, strategies, challenges, and outcomes from schools, healthcare institutions, communities, NGOs, and online platforms. Reflections on the interconnections between these contexts and the influence of institutional and cultural factors are also encouraged.
  4. Other Topics Related to Comprehensive Sexuality Education
Submissions on any topic related to Comprehensive Sexuality Education are welcome and not limited to the themes above. Whether theoretical, empirical, or practice-based, contributions that deepen understanding, expand social relevance, or enhance the practical possibilities of CSE are encouraged. We hope to foster diverse perspectives that respond to evolving societal needs and challenges.
